Udhar with interest · Monthly schedule

Money lent at interest, without the notebook maths

“₹50,000 at two rupees a month” is how a lot of family and business lending works. Expense Khata turns that into a schedule: what is due each month, what has come in, what is still owed, and a reminder on every due date.

How it works

Say the rate the way you say it out loud

When you lend or borrow, switch on “Charges interest” and answer three questions.

Interest per 100, per month

Type 2 for “₹2 on every ₹100, each month”, the way it is agreed in India. Decimals like 1.5 work too.

For how long

Six months, one year, two years or any number of months. The app shows the end date and the total before you save.

Monthly, or all at the end

Interest every month with the amount at the end, or the amount and all its interest together on the last day.

A schedule you can trust

Month by month: the date, the interest due, and whether it is Paid or still due. The next due date is always on top.

Record interest or money returned

Two buttons on the loan. Interest goes in as income (or out as an expense when you borrowed), so your account balances stay right.

Part returned? Interest drops

Interest is on what was still owed when each month began, so money returned early lowers the interest from the next month.

A reminder on every due date

“Collect ₹1,000 from Suresh today”, at the time you choose. Only your phone is reminded; nobody else is ever contacted.

Inside your udhar khata

Loans with interest sit with the rest of your borrow and lend records in Debt Management, person by person.

A worked example

₹50,000 lent at ₹2 per 100 for a year

WhatAmountHow
Interest each month₹1,000₹50,000 ÷ 100 × 2
Interest for 12 months₹12,000₹1,000 × 12
Total to collect₹62,000₹50,000 + ₹12,000
After ₹20,000 comes back early₹600 a month₹30,000 ÷ 100 × 2, from the next month

₹2 per 100 a month is 24% a year. Expense Khata shows the figures; whether a rate is fair is between you and the other person. Try your own numbers in the free interest calculator, or read our guide to working out “₹2 per 100” interest.

No interest? Still reminded

Pay-back dates for every borrow and lend

Not every udhar has interest. Add a pay-back date to any borrow or lend, pick the time, and get a reminder that day. This part is free.

  • “Pay back Priya today” or “Collect from Rohan today”, at the time you chose.
  • The loan shows as Paid once it is returned.
  • Reminders are on your phone only. The app never messages anyone.

Questions

Good to know

Is this a loan app?

No. Expense Khata never lends money, takes interest or contacts anyone. It only keeps a private record of money you lent or borrowed with people you know, and the interest you agreed between yourselves.

How is the interest calculated?

Simple interest on the amount still owed when each month starts: amount ÷ 100 × rate. Interest is never added onto interest. Money returned early lowers the interest from the next month, and returning all of it ends the interest with that month.

Is it free?

Loans with interest are part of Premium, a one-time purchase that also removes ads. Borrow and lend records and pay-back reminders without interest are free.

Does the other person get reminders?

No. Reminders are notifications on your own phone only.

Can I track money I borrowed at interest too?

Yes. It works the same way for borrowing: it shows the interest you pay each month and the total to pay back, and reminds you on each due date.
