What you can record

Four actions cover almost every udhar

Lend

Money you gave someone. It shows under “You will receive” for that person.

Collect

Money that came back, in full or in parts. Progress is shown so you can see how much is still due.

Borrow

Money you took from someone, shown under “You owe” with the date and the note you added.

Repay

Money you paid back, again in full or in parts, so the balance stays honest.

History per person

Open any person to see every entry with its date, amount and note. No scrolling through a chat to reconstruct it.

Kept apart from spending

Borrowing and lending are tracked separately from everyday expenses, so a loan to a friend does not look like money you spent.

Person by person

See every balance at a glance

The Debt Management screen shows the total you owe and the total owed to you, then lists each person with what was lent, what came back and what remains.

  • Filter to active, cleared, borrowed or lent.
  • Add a due date and get a reminder notification on your own phone.
  • Open a person to see their full history of entries.

Good record-keeping

Five details worth writing down

  • Who the money went to or came from.
  • How much and in what form (UPI, bank transfer or cash).
  • When it happened and when it should come back.
  • Why, in a short note, so nobody has to remember later.
  • Each repayment as its own entry, not by editing the original.

Questions

Good to know

Is this a loan app?

No. Expense Khata does not lend money, charge interest, check credit or contact anyone. It is only a private notebook for money you have given or taken between people you know.

Does it send reminders to the other person?

No. Reminders are notifications on your own phone. The app never messages the person you lent to or borrowed from.

Can I record a part-payment?

Yes. Record each repayment as its own entry. The person’s balance and progress update, and the original entry stays in the history.

Is the borrow and lend feature free?

Yes, it is part of the free app.
